Talking AI ethics with a philosopher
Interview with Enrico Panai, Founder of Be Ethical and Fellow at ForHumanity.
Enrico is a Human Information Interaction Specialist and Information Ethicist. After studying philosophy and a multi-year experience as a digital consultant in Italy, he taught for six years as an adjunct professor of Digital Humanities in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sassari. Since his move to France in 2007, he has been working as a consultant for large corporations. Enrico is also a Fellow at ForHumanity and is currently working on the organisation’s Independent Audit of AI Systems and on the Code of Data Ethics (CoDE).
Enrico is aware that many think that philosophers will eventually stop AI innovation due to ethical risk. But, he firmly believes that philosophy is vital in AI development, and ethics allows us to be less robotic, avoiding mistakes.
In our conversation with Enrico, we’ll be discussing his work with ForHumanity and highlighting the importance of ethics and philosophy in every stage of AI development.
